Road Cycling Addict’s Guide to the Best Places in Florida

Cycling is a great exercise and a way to appreciate the world around us. Cycling is known to make you younger, to help you eliminate the toxins and to allow you to get better sleep. Couch potatoes should become road cycling addicts. Road cycling has become increasingly popular and what a great place to have a cycling trip than in the Sunshine State. Here are the best places that a road addict than go to in this great state of Florida.

Miami

This city’s claim to fame may be on the hardwood as the World Champions of the NBA and having Dwayne Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh. Aside from that Miami has just completed a 31-mile M-Path-South Dade Busway Bike Trail. Cyclists can really have a workout on this trail where it links up with the public transportation. The Dadeland Mall is just about eight miles south. The trail has bike racks and there are no special permits required.

Lithia

The two-mile asphalt-paved bicycle trail in Alderman’s Fork Park may not be truly enticing for the road cycling addict. But if you want to ride along with family and friends that are not yet into the hobby, the trail is muy excellente! The trail offers a great view of the Alafia River where cyclists can enjoy the twists and turns.

St. Augustine

Anastasia State Park is a nice place to ride a bike because of the beach. Riders typically bring bikes into the beach or you could rent one at the Beach Bike Rental shop in the event you don’t have one. There are concession stands that are located in the beach where you can grab nice, cold bottled water after you’re done biking. The bike trail is about four miles long and majority of it is paved. The admission is $2 per biker.

Boca Raton

The Ocean Boulevard Trail that parallels the A1A through Boca Raton and Highland Beach and runs about 4.7 miles from SE 21st to Spanish River Boulevard. It is a paved trail that goes through all the way to the Intercoastal Waterway. There is no trailhead parking areas available but there are some shopping centers along the way.

Orlando

Baldwin Park is a community that is near downtown Orlando. This is one of the bike-friendly neighborhoods in the county. The Baldwin bike trail is about 2.7 kilometers which features a dog park, pavilions, picnic tables, boat launch and some restrooms for your convenience. The Baldwin Bike Trail links up with the Cady Way Bike Trail which is another six-mile trail that begins in Orange County and ends at the Goldenrod Trail. Bikers will get a scenic view of downtown Orlando as the trail goes through some commercial areas but has plenty of shade and greenery for your enjoyment.

Biking is an adventure. Florida has nine of its cities in the best cities for biking list. Therefore, if you want to go biking for fun or just to remove your stress and anxiety, head on to Florida right away. Its people pride themselves of being a bike-friendly state which is surely the envy of the rest of America.
